Celebration of Science and Mathematics week is underway and what a week it has been so far!  We have had the privilege of honoring Dr. Gary Booth and Dr. Tracie Prater with the College of Science Award which is presented to people who have made impactful contributions to the College, attending the Alumni Lecture Series where Dr.

Science and Mathematics Week Sept. 11-16

Having recently opened the largest science facility on any campus in the Commonwealth, Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Science will celebrate with Science and Mathematics Week on the Richmond campus.

The celebration, from Monday, Sept. 11, through Saturday, Sept. 16, will feature a dedication of Phase 2 of the University’s new Science Building, special speakers, hands-on activities for visiting high schoolers, tours of the facility, a free Hummel Planetarium show, Family Nature Day at Maywoods Environmental and Educational Laboratory, and more.

Michelle Sabo is a Geology major originally from Orange County, California. She came to Kentucky “for no particular reason” and has loved it ever since! Michelle actually found EKU by using an assessment by CollegeBoard.org.  She answered several questions about what she hoped to major in and other desired features in a college. EKU came up as the #1 recommendation!
