STUDENT OF THE MONTH: Patricia Clem
Patricia Clem is a biomedical science major with a pre-medical concentration from Harlan, Kentucky. Having grown up in a small town and graduating from a small high school, Patricia loved EKU’s “small school feel” as well as the small class sizes. She also received scholarships such as the EKU Founder’s Scholarship and was accepted into the Honors Program which made her decision to attend EKU easier.
“I love the scholarship opportunities EKU offers when comparted to other universities in Kentucky,” said Patricia. “They have helped me so much throughout my years at Eastern."
Patricia is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and serves on its executive committee. This participation allows her to be involved in many charitable events hosted by other chapters on campus as well as Alpha Delta Pi’s own philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House.
When asked what she has learned most while attending EKU, Patricia said, “Since I have been at EKU, I have certainly gotten out of my comfort zone and I have gotten to explore things that I love. Our amazing science facility and the professors here have helped me in so many ways thus far and have grown my love for science and medicine. The Honors program as well as Alpha Delta Pi have introduced me to so many wonderful people. I am so excited for the rest of my time at EKU and I am so glad I picked this university and field of study!”
Patricia plans to attend medical school after she graduates and is very interested in emergency and orthopedic medicine, but is also looking into other specialties.
